Letter from the President

We take being your technology resource seriously, which is why we have
an intense focus on continuing education. From staying up to date on
certifications to attending conferences, our goal is to provide you the
latest information and best practices so you can focus on your business.

Most recently, we attended HPE Discover 2018 —an annual
technology showcase event for business and IT professionals to learn,
connect, and grow. HPE Discover 2018 signaled a new chapter for HPE as CEO Antonio Neri took the stage. Neri’s background is grounded in the technical side of the house and based on his talks throughout the conference, we will see this background serving as a foundation for HPE’s future. You can see his opening general session presentation here.

Another highlight was being able to hear Gary Stewart, systems specialist at Lubrizol, speak about how to Be Ready for Anything with HPE 3PAR Storage. Gary shared Lubrizol’s experience working with HPE InfoSight and how the technology helped resolve a major problem with their storage area
network and VDI (Virtual Desktop) environment. You can download Gary’s slide deck

We have provided some highlights from HPE Discover 2018 for you if you were unable to attend. We will also be hosting a Tech Talk on July 25 at 11 a.m. with HPE to discuss the Next Generation of IT. In this Tech Talk we’ll be talking about the impact of comsumption-based IT with HPE GreenLake and PointNext. You can register here.

Outcome-Based IT Consumption
The Best of Both Worlds: Outcome-Based IT Consumption

There’s much talk about the public cloud vs on-premises IT and the
pros and cons of each. As a result, many businesses have turned to Hybrid IT to reap the benefits of both worlds. A fundamental tradeoff of Hybrid IT, however, is that it’s not easy to manage. It’s a well known fact that the majority of IT resources are still devoted to day-to-day operations, leaving little room for innovation. What can be done to alleviate the operational burden on IT?

Can You ID and Report a Data Breach Within 3 days?
used with permission from IBM Big Data & Analytics Hub
by Seth Dobrin
The 72-hour rule included in the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has become a major focus for businesses as they work towards compliance.Article 33 states that breaches must be reported to the regulator within a 72-hour window of an organization becoming aware of it, and to the data subject “without undue delay” after businesses become aware of the breach.

4 Ways to Be Good to Your PC

Here’s how to keep it in top shape

Let’s be real: You probably can’t swap your PC in for a new one as often as you’d like. A PC is an investment—and taking good care of it pays off in the long run. If your PC has a few years on it and you want to make it last—or you have a new machine and you want to treat it right—here are some simple ways to keep it running smoothly and extend its life.

Build Your Security Immunity With an IT Infrastructure Checkup
used with permission from Tektonika (HP)
by Joe Hewitson

As a species, humans have a natural tendency to overcomplicate things. Take coffee, for example: It’s gone from simple, “good ’til the last drop” black coffee to iced, half-caff, ristretto, venti, four-pump, sugar-free, cinnamon, skinny latte. You’d be hard-pressed to buy a car without a full-blown home theater
experience built-in nowadays—and let’s not even get started on those “it’s complicated” social media relationships.

Case Study: Streamline Disaster Recovery
Central One Federal Credit Union streamlines disaster recovery with HPE SimpliVity

Driven by the need to improve their DR capabilities and the concern
that they would soon outgrow the physical capacity of their two
data centers, the IT team decided to pursue a “P-to-V” migration
project, implementing VMware and deploying virtual machines for
each of the existing physical servers.
