Letter from the President
I hope your summer off to a good start! While it’s been tempting to squeeze in as much sun time as possible after the especially long winter, we’ve been hard at work to bring you some new resources. First, head over to www.net-cloud.com to check out our web refresh. We will continue to add content including videos, white papers, case studies and ROI calculators to assist you in keeping up-to-date with the latest industry news and products. Second, I want to personally thank the dozens of you who joined us for our inaugural Tech Talk in May – “Office 365: Beyond Outlook” with Microsoft’s Todd Sweester. Tech Talks are free, live webinars with myself and experts from technology giants like Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and Extreme Networks. Due to its popularity, we will be reairing the recorded version of “Office 365: Beyond Outlook” on June 13 at 11 a.m. EDT. You can access the recorded version of “Office 365: Beyond Outlook” here. We already have a few dozen of you preregistered for the next Tech Talk – Simply Your VMware Environment! As you know virtualization is equally compelling and captivating with its promises of flexibility, efficiency and continuity, and the dream of neatly tying together the cores of business and IT. However, the reality of virtualization deployment can cause even experienced IT professionals to do an about face. The lack of visibility and control paired with skill and resource challenges can equate to VM Sprawl, Crawl and Stall. Application owners then struggle to fully realize the benefits while business leaders demand increased value from their investment. Organizations need enhanced ways to harness the potential of virtualization, but only can do so once these barriers are broken down. VMWare can assist in providing reliable performance, increased efficiencies and value. However, one of the concerns we hear about is the time required to adequately manage your VMware environment. You’re not alone, which is why we’ve invited Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s Don Lind to share some ideas on how you can reduce the time required to manage your VMware environment. You won’t want to miss Simplify Your VMware Environment on June 27 at 11 a.m. EDT. You can learn more about the Tech Talk or register here. I’m excited to be able to provide you with these exciting technology resources to help you and your business. If you have any questions or ideas for future topics or resources, please reach out tomarketing@net-cloud.com. From all of us at Networking Technologies, James Bahm |

5 Mobile Threats You Should Shut Down
used with permission from Tektonika (HP)
Mobile devices are now a staple of the workplace, as ubiquitous as open floor plans and videoconferencing. Enabling employees to work from their mobile devices can even boost satisfaction, productivity, creativity, loyalty, and engagement—that’s quite a list of benefits.
However, embracing these upsides also requires paying attention to the downside: mobile threats. Given the sheer volume and value of sensitive data on employee devices, mobile security needs to be an IT priority. Every time an employee accesses corporate data from a smartphone, they put the entire network at risk—unless proper security measures are in place. |

Text By Thinking Could Soon Go Mainstream

It’s part of a larger quest for a mind-machine meld that could open a new frontier in VR/AR and trigger a productivity revolution.
Texting should come with a health warning. It has caused motorists to drive off cliffs, and ruined dates and dinner table conversations. It even has a couple of physical ailments named after it (text neck or texting thumb, anyone?). But what if you could text with your brain — composing and sending text messages just by thinking about them? |
